About This Workshop
2019 will mark the eleventh year of this late-Spring oil painting workshop along the banks of the Charles River. It is designed for students experienced in oil painting who are seeking an opportunity to build or sharpen their painting skills and perceptual abilities while working with the changeable conditions of light and color found out-of-doors. The bridges, boathouses, urban backdrops, close-up natural forms and distant vistas found along River from Cambridge and Boston offer the painter a rich and varied range of potential subjects.
Focusing on direct oil painting techniques, this workshop takes place along the Charles over four days (two weekends) of painting, beginning in late-May. Bracketing these four on-site painting days, participants meet beforehand, for the Workshop's Orientation, and afterwards, for a final Review.
The Workshop’s schedule, as well as a link to register for it, are found below. For additional information, watch the short Video, "Along the Charles", also linked below. The video was made on location in 2014.
